so many talented players blow their shots at having a hall-of-fame-worthy
career because they were linked to one crime or another over the years many NFL
stars have been charged with serious crimes from murder to manslaughter and senseless
drug use it might shock you to know that even some of your favorite
hard-working players have landed a spot on this list. we will be looking at 5 NFL
players that you didn't know were criminals.
1 Ray Lewis
Lewis seemed to have it all the pro football Hall of Fame is arguably
one of the best players to wear the Baltimore Ravens jersey however the Raven’s ring of Honor recipient is not a saint following the super bowl 34 victories in
2000. Lewis and his friends went out to celebrate during the party a fight
broke out between Lewis's party and some other group of people this brawl led
to the stabbing deaths of janseth banker and Richard Lawle, Lewis and two of
his companions Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting were questioned by Atlanta
police and 11 days later. the three men were indicted on murder and aggravated
assault charges prior to the party Lewis was wearing a white suit but he got
rid of it cleanly as it was never found
later on Fulton county district attorney paul howard alleged that the
bloodstained suit was dumped in a garbage bin outside a fast food restaurant a
knife found at the scene did not have any fingerprints or DNA lewis
subsequently testified that Oakley and sweeting had bought knives earlier in super
bowl week from a sports authority where lewis had been signing autographs two
weeks into the trial lewis's attorneys don Samuel and ed garland negotiated a
plea agreement with the district attorney where the murder charges against
lewis were dismissed in exchange for his testimony against oakley and sweating
and his guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice he was
later sentenced to one year in prison and fined two hundred and fifty thousand
dollars by the NFL
2 Cody Latimer
Number nine cody latimer Vladimir is a free agent who plays as a wide
receiver in the NFL he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of
the 2014 NFL draft he played college football at Indiana he was a member of the
Broncos in super bowl 50 wins against the Carolina Panthers a few months ago Vladimir
was booked on assault in the second degree menacing illegal discharge of a
firearm prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment apparently he had
been involved in a fight that broke out during a poker game where he fired his
weapon twice
3 Thomas Henderson
Henderson is a former Dallas Cowboys player and super bowl 12 winner however
he lived a struggling life off the field after his NFL career he was arrested
for smoking cocaine with two young teenage girls he was reported to have
threatened them with a gun and gave them drugs in exchange for sex he later
spent 28 months in prison and later went to rehab
4 Josh Brent
After being picked by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the
2010 NFL drafts Brent’s football career was quickly cut short on the 8th of December
2012 Brent was driving with his teammate jerry brown on a Texas highway,
unfortunately, Brent was under alcohol influence and their car had a ghastly accident
one that led to the death of the Canadian footballer jerry brown it was
reported Brent was driving at 110 miles per hour Brent was found guilty of
manslaughter in 2014 and was sentenced to 180 days in prison plus 10 years on
probation
5 Jovan Belcher
The NFL is filled with some sad tragic stories this is one of the saddest
Belcher was a linebacker who played for the Kansas city chiefs of the NFL he
was a bright player who was often regarded for his hard work however tragedy
struck on the 1st of December 2012 belcher got into a heated argument with his
girlfriend and shot her dead in front of his mum and baby daughter he then
drove to the chief's ground and told the team coaches about what he had just
done before they could take the gun out of his hands he shot himself in the
head it was later discovered that belcher was suffering from cte at the time
